COLOMBO DECLARATION ON MEDIA FREEDOM AND SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY 2018

The Colombo Declaration on Media Freedom and Social Responsibility of 1998 which was later revised in 2008 during the 10th anniversary celebrations will mark its 20th anniversary this year. The Declaration has been the road-map for the Sri Lanka Press Institute and its constituent partners on outstanding media issues during the past two decades.

The Sri Lanka Press Institute together with its constituent partners will be marking the event from September 27-29, 2018 with an international symposium in Colombo. One of the key matters that will coincide with the event would be a revision of the Colombo Declaration with a view to updating it.

The SLPI kindly extends the invitation to all those who are interested in sharing and be part of this knowledge sharing event.

INTERNATIONAL SPEAKERS

The conference will have speakers from Norway, UK, Canada, India, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Pakistan, Austria, and Sri Lanka. The diverse speakers would be Legal experts in the media domain, Advocates of Free Media, the Civil Society, Media Professionals, journalists and Good Governance promoters.

VISA

Option 1: You can directly apply for Business Visas on-line through the Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) System at http://eta.gov.lk/slvisa/ . This will be the most convenient mode of obtaining visas.

 

Option 2: If you have any difficulty in applying visas on-line, you can submit a visa application to the nearest Sri Lanka Mission/ Consulate.

SLPI will provide invitation letters to support the Visa process and assist where possible.

 

Registration Details (International Participants)

Conference Registration fee (International Participants) – US$ 100.  The registration fee will include snacks and lunch on conference days. It also includes the dinners on the 27th, 28th and 29th of Sept 2018.
